Newcastle United gossip as Chelsea goalkeeper eyed and Botman race heats up

Here are the latest Newcastle United transfer rumours on Monday, 28 February 2021.

Newcastle United are reportedly keen on a summer move for Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.

That is according to the Daily Mail, who claim that the Blues will be willing to listen to offers in the region of £50 million, who is currently the most expensive goalkeeper in history.

They could, however, also accept a loan with an obligation to buy with Newcastle and a number of La Liga clubs said to be interested.

Kepa has had to play second fiddle to Edouard Mendy for much of the last two seasons, with the Spaniard reduced only to mainly domestic cup appearances.

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly ready to hijack Newcastle United’s move for Lille defender Sven Botman.

That is according to the Daily Star, who claim that Antonio Conte has given Spurs the seal of approval to move on Botman, who fits the bit for a left footed centre back.

Newcastle moved heavily for Botman during the January transfer window but ultimately failed to get their man as Lille held firm in their stance.

Botman was reportedly keen to join the Magpies last month, however it remains to be seen if his stance changes with Tottenham now in the race.

Newcastle United have reportedly identified Lens midfielder Seko Fofana as a priority target this summer, according to Le 10 Sport.

Fofana was linked with a move to the Magpies, as well as Leeds United and Burnley last month, but Lens refused to sell.

The 26-year-old has been one of the standout players in the Ligue 1 this season with seven goals in 26 appearances.

Newcastle are set for another busy transfer window this summer as they look to build on the momentum they have generated in recent weeks.
