Chelsea centre-back Trevoh Chalobah has joined Thiago Silva in questioning the offside decision against Romelu Lukaku in the Carabao Cup final in the wake of more tight calls featuring Liverpool and Manchester City.
Lukaku appeared to break the offside trap against Liverpool last Sunday to open the scoring, only for VAR to rule it out with the striker adjudged to have misjudged the timing of his run slightly.
But this weekend saw seemingly similarly tight decisions go the way of the attacker.
On Saturday evening, Sadio Mane was adjudged to be onside after tapping in the winner against West Ham, while an offside decision against Riyad Mahrez was overturned in the Manchester derby.
After Lukaku had his goal ruled out against Liverpool, Tuchel described the decision as strange.
"Very, very tight and very, very strange line to be honest," he said.
"I have seen goals where I thought it was like a clear offside they were given on some strange line and in favour to the attacker.
"Like we always say, in games like this where it’s so on the edge you need a bit of luck."
