Ralf Rangnick 'urges' Manchester United to sign Bundesliga star and more transfer rumours

Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick is 'urging' the club's hierarchy to sign RB Leipzig attacking-midfielder Christopher Nkunku.

That is according to a report by the Daily Star, who claim that the German is very keen on being reunited with the Frenchman at Old Trafford. Rangnick worked with Nkunku at Leipzig and was the man responsible for signing him from Paris Saint-Germain in 2019.

United, who are set to be in need of a huge rebuild this coming summer, could be keen on adding fresh blood to their attacking ranks with uncertainty surrounding the futures of several names, such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Edinson Cavani and Marcus Rashford. In Nkuku, the Reds would be sourcing a player who is continuing to go from strength to strength, as highlighted by his tally of 25 goals and 13 assists in 37 games in all competitions this season.

His numbers make for hugely impressive viewing and this season, although it has not yet reached its conclusion, is the best of his career so far. It is not just domestically where the 24-year-old has thrived, though, as he netted seven goals in Leipzig's six Champions League group games earlier this term.

The report states that Rangnick has 'recommended' Nkunku to United and that they sent scouts to watch him against Bochum last week, in which he netted the only goal of the game in a 1-0 win for Leipzig. That marked his 14th goal of the season in the Bundesliga.

It is also claimed that Nkunku has a £62million buyout clause in his contract, highlighting that a deal to sign him will not be cheap. However, he is considered as one of Europe's hottest properties and his performances
