Newcastle 'made offer' to bring 'incredible' player to St James' Park

Newcastle United recently made an offer to midfielder Christian Eriksen, according to talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook.

However, the 30-year-old looks set to choose between Brentford and Manchester United in a blow to Eddie Howe.

Sky Sports recently reported that Eriksen is considering whether to stay at Brentford or join Manchester United this summer.

Tottenham’s name has also been mentioned, but the same outlet states that a return to north London is unlikely.

Eriksen’s contract at the Brentford Community Stadium is up, hence all of the interest the Dane has been attracting.

He impressed under Thomas Frank last season, providing four assists in 11 Premier League appearances following his return to the pitch. He had been out of action after suffering a cardiac arrest at Euro 2020.

Crook has told GIVEMESPORT that Newcastle offered Eriksen a deal, but the Denmark international wants to play at a higher level.

Speaking to GMS, the talkSPORT reporter said: “There’s still a chance he could stay at Brentford, but I think he wants to play as high level as possible. I was told that Newcastle also made an offer. I think West Ham were at the table as well.

“Last I heard, United were confident, but ultimately it’s going to come down to Christian Eriksen.”

Out of Brentford, Manchester United and Newcastle, you would have to say it is the first of that Premier League trio.

Eriksen played a huge role in their 2021/22 campaign despite only joining for the second half of it, with the Bees winning seven of the 11 games he featured in. While they were able to retain their status in the English top flight, without him, it could have been a completely different story.
