Newcastle 'genuinely interested' in £300m-plus superstar duo

Newcastle United are “genuinely interested” in the likes of Paris Saint-Germain’s Neymar and Tottenham’s Harry Kane, claims transfer insider Dean Jones.

The Tyneside club have serious financial backing behind them following their recent takeover and continue to be linked with some of the biggest names in world football.

Reports from Spain recently suggested that Newcastle want to sign Neymar when the transfer window opens in the summer.

According to these same reports, PSG are open to selling the Brazilian they paid £200m for almost five years ago.

As for Kane, The Athletic claims he is a target for Manchester United, while Jones has told GIVEMESPORT that his current club Tottenham value him upwards of £100m.

To sign either player this summer is going to cost humongous money.

While Newcastle are rumoured to have a budget of around £90m for the upcoming transfer window, Jones believes they would be willing to go well beyond that if the likes of Neymar and Kane become available.

Speaking to GMS, the football journalist said: “They’re linked with Neymar and Harry Kane, and they’re genuinely interested in those players if they become available. That’s when that [£90m] budget just gets blown apart.”

It seems highly unlikely. If Neymar and Kane really do become available at the end of the season, there are going to be some huge clubs at the front of the queue for their signatures.

The Athletic has already stated that Manchester United want the latter. At this stage of their project, it is hard to imagine Newcastle beating the Red Devils to Kane.

Ultimately, the likelihood is that Newcastle will have to continue targeting
