Clueless: Spurs supporters will be fuming over Sky Sports footage - opinion

Spurs supporters will not be happy with Jamie Redknapp’s recent comments that emerged on Twitter about former boss Mauricio Pochettino made on Sky’s Saturday Night Football show.

Spurs have found a resurgence in their form with new boss Antonio Conte after the disappointing spells under Nuno Espirito Santo and Jose Mourinho, culminating in the belief that they have, for the first time since Pochettino left, a manager who can take them to the highest echelons of English football.

Pochettino has remained the most successful manager since Martin Jol, who won their last major trophy with a 2-1 win in the League Cup in the 2007/08 season, after taking Spurs to the Champions League Final in 2019 and guiding them to their closest challenges for the Premier League title in both the 15/16 and 16/17 season where they finished third and second respectively.

With this in mind, it is easy to see why Spurs fans might take umbrage with Redknapp’s recent comments on the former Spurs manager, calling him a “serial underachiever” over his career where he has managed the likes of Southampton, Spurs, and currently PSG.

In the clip, Redknapp is talking about the idea of Pochettino taking over at Manchester United, stating, “They need to get the right manager in, Pochettino has been a serial underachiever, can he do it at Man United? There’s no belief that he can”.

Spurs fans will no doubt be annoyed and angered by Redknapp’s comments here, with one reason being their pure love for the South American.
