Newcastle 'definitely interested' in £30m striker at St James' Park

Newcastle United are still interested in signing Chelsea striker Armando Broja this summer, claims Daily Express journalist Ryan Taylor.

The Tyneside club were linked with the 20-year-old earlier this month, but West Ham appeared to be the side in the driving seat to land his signature. However, with the Hammers since turning to Gianluca Scamacca, Eddie Howe now has a good opportunity to snap him up.

As per the i, West Ham have cooled their interest in Broja as they close in on Sassuolo forward Scamacca.

With the east London club no longer chasing the Albanian, the newspaper states that Newcastle and Everton are back in the frame to sign him.

Prior, the Mail on Sunday claimed Newcastle had made an enquiry about Broja, with the same outlet suggesting that he could cost £30m if he were to leave Chelsea this transfer window.

The Magpies are still in the market for a new striker after missing out on Hugo Ekitike, who recently left Reims for Paris Saint-Germain.

Taylor has told GIVEMESPORT that Newcastle want to sign Broja on loan but the Albania international is seeking a permanent transfer this summer.

Speaking to GMS, the Daily Express journalist said: “Everton and Newcastle are definitely still interested, but Newcastle would prefer a loan. But a source close to Broja tells me he’s only interested in a permanent move. He doesn’t want to go out on loan again.”

Newcastle are running out of options in their search for a new striker. They have already watched Ekitike move to PSG, while some of their other targets appear to be too expensive.

According to The Telegraph, they were interested in Real Sociedad’s Alexander Isak until learning how much it would cost in total to sign him.

Simply put, there are not too many names
