Aston Villa: Brutal fine list for next season appears to have been leaked

Aston Villa appear to have had a list of fines for players leaked ahead of the 2022/23 season.

Fines in professional football are far from a new thing and many clubs have suffered from their intriguing lists becoming public knowledge in the past.

The lists exist as a means of retaining discipline throughout a squad and allow managers and staff to keep a better hold of players, ultimately to retain squad harmony and ensure everyone is working for each other.

For many football fans and casual players who have plied their trade at grassroots level, the concept of a fine is hardly a new or surprising idea.

Bookings and red cards have always been met with a fine at grassroots level, and it’s the same for professional clubs, who do have to pay a fine on the cards.

However, internal fine lists are often deployed separate to the conventional fines for cards which exist regardless, and as such can include a variety of rules and regulations, ranging from intelligent, to strict, to straight up bizarre.

Steven Gerrard is preparing for his first full season in charge at Villa Park, having taken over in November 2021 as the replacement for Dean Smith and guiding the Villans to a 14th place finish last season.

But, with the new campaign fast approaching, a list of fines appears to have leaked online. The list appeared on Reddit and Villa fan Twitter account @AVFCFaithful_ and has since been picked up by The Sun.

It is unclear whether or not the list is completely legitimate or 100% accurate, but what we know for sure is that the fines included are extraordinary to read. Take a look below.
