Newcastle: £150k-a-week star could be 'very tempted' by St James' Park

Newcastle United may be able to tempt Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic to St James’ Park if they make the ‘right offer’ to the American, according to CBS reporter Ben Jacobs.

Eddie Howe was handed more than £120 million to bolster his squad during the summer transfer window and will have the chance to invest further at the turn of the year.

Newcastle were interested in taking the 24-year-old to the North East on loan following the end of last season, according to The Athletic, with Chelsea teammates Armando Broja, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Conor Gallagher also of interest.

However, the Blues were only understood to be ready to sell the attacker and were not open a temporary deal.

Juventus also wanted to sign Pulisic in the summer window and were willing to accept his services as part of a deal for centre-back Matthijs De Ligt.

But the Dutchman eventually joined German giants Bayern Munich in a £68 million deal, leaving Pulisic at Stamford Bridge beyond the deadline.

Jacobs understands that Pulisic, who earns £150,000 per week, could be tempted into a move to St James’ Park if the right offer is on the table.

The reporter adds that the upcoming World Cup in Qatar will likely prove important as to what the 50-cap USA international does next.

Jacobs told GIVEMESPORT: “I think if Newcastle made the right offer, that could be very tempting to Pulisic. But he’s one of the players that the World Cup is really going to influence now because he’s stuck at Chelsea until the World Cup.

“If he then doesn’t have the best World Cup, he might feel shunned down the pecking order even further at Chelsea and then think, ‘okay, it’s better I just leave’. But if he has a great World Cup, then I think Chelsea wouldn’t want to get rid of him in
