New Livingston Women's signing 'excited' by loan move to Lionesses

New Livingston Women’s signing Vhairi Munro is keen to play her part in a promotion charge for the Lionesses following her loan move from SWPL1 side Partick Thistle.

The 20-year-old is hoping to get more game time at the Tony Macaroni Arena after featuring little for her parent club since arriving there in the summer and she’s excited for the challenge as Livi look to start 2024 in style this weekend away to Stirling University.

The Lionesses had been due to host SWFL League One side Airdrie Ladies in a Scottish Cup third round tie on Sunday but the away side pulled out and Livi were awarded a walkover win.

Now, it’s time to focus on the league with Livi in a three-horse race for the promotion play-off spot. League leaders Queen’s Park sit 12 points clear at the top but the three sides immediately below them in the table - Boroughmuir Thistle, Kilmarnock and Livi - are separated by a single point with the Lionesses currently sitting in fourth place.

Speaking to the Courier, Munro said: “It’s a move I’m really excited by and hopefully it’s an opportunity for me to get some game time as I wasn’t really getting much at Thistle.

“It was a mutual thing in terms of going out on loan. Both myself and Thistle knew it was going to be the best option. I’m still young but I’ve already had two ACL injuries so it’s a case of trying to play as much as possible for me at this stage.”

She added: “Livingston was a very attractive option and I’d heard lots of positive things about the club and the people so I’m delighted to be here.

“They’re in a good position in the league and that adds to the excitement and pressure going into every game and I want to help the club stay towards the top end of the table.

“I spoke to Mike (Ross, manager)
