Man attacked by robbers who stole his 'distinctive and expensive' coat

A man was followed then attacked by robbers who stole his 'distinctive and expensive' coat, police have revealed.

The man was pounced upon in an alleyway in Oldham. Police said his 'Brave' camouflage coat was subsequently taken.

Detectives have now issued CCTV images of two men they want to speak with in connection with the investigation as enquiries continue.

In a statement on Friday, GMP said: "Detectives in Oldham have released photos of two men they would like to speak to following an assault in the town centre.

"The male victim was followed into an alleyway off Retiro Street at around 4.30am on 19 November 2023 where he was attacked and had his Brave camouflage coat stolen."

Detective Sergeant Matt Adshead said: "This was a nasty and unprovoked attack - a distinctive and expensive jacket was taken so a partner or parent must have seen a family member come home from a night out with a coat they didn’t leave with."

"Anyone with information or who was in the area at the time should contact police on 0161 856 4521 quoting log 621-19112023.

"Information can also be reported via www.gmp.police.uk or 101 or shared anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. In an emergency, always dial 999." No further details have been revealed and it's not been revealed whether the man attacked was injured.
