Neil Lennon names two Celtic 'ultimatums' that must be delivered as he's left convinced Hoops will win European trophy

Neil Lennon is convinced that Celtic will win a European trophy again.

The former Hoops boss has masterminded some of the club's great modern victories on the continent, including an away win in 2019 at Tuesday's opponents in the Champions League, Lazio. Current manager Brendan Rodgers takes Celtic to Rome since the night Olivier Ntcham left Hoops fans rocking in the Eternal City while Lennon also has THAT win over Barcelona on his CV.

It will be a major ask for Celtic to remain in Europe beyond Christmas after picking up a point in the four games played to this point. But even if it's not imminent, the former midfielder is convinced the club will win a European trophy again like they did when winning the European Cup in 1967. He told the official Celtic podcast: "I love us being in the Champions League and on the big stage cause we crave that. The Scottish league gets laughed at or whatever but you still have to win the league, it's so important. The two ultimatums are winning in the league and forging a reputation in Europe because it's the blue ribboned event. We were the first British club to win it and it's important for us.

"I do think the glass ceiling will be broke one day. I do think we will get through to the last 16 again and hopefully someone takes them beyond the last 16. I do think there is another European trophy in us, whenever that will be who knows but I'd love to be there to see it."

Lennon also believes there are some fundamentals that Celtic teams must have to obtain European success - although there's one current star currently reaching heady Champions League expectations.
