Neco Williams from Liverpool to Fulham permanently: What do we know so far? Is a transfer likely to happen?

Fulham were able to pip Championship promotion rivals AFC Bournemouth to the deadline day signing of Liverpool full-back Neco Williams in January, and the Wales international has been a key player for the Cottagers since his arrival.

The 20-year-old has appeared in nine Championship matches so far under Marco Silva, scoring twice and providing two assists as he’s slotted in seamlessly at right-back.

As the west London club get closer to securing promotion back to the top flight of English football, transfer rumours will swirl regarding potential incomings at Craven Cottage and there has already been chatter about the future of Williams.

What do we know so far?

Williams is only on loan until the end of the current campaign, but there’s a chance that it could become a more permanent deal.

Reporter Graeme Bailey stated last week to Anfield Watch that Fulham have already made their desire clear to have Williams on board next season – presumably when they are contesting Premier League football – and that another loan deal was the most likely course of action.

However in another report from Football Insider, Williams has apparently expressed his willingness to secure a permanent move to Fulham, with Liverpool said to value him at £12 million.

Is a transfer likely to happen?

Considering Trent Alexander-Arnold plays in his position at Anfield, you cannot blame Williams for wanting to further his career, especially when it appears that Fulham rate him so highly.

And when they inevitably do win promotion, there will be a decent transfer budget in place for Silva to strengthen his side – £12 million if that is the right value could represent a bargain considering Williams’ potential.
