Sporting CP player Morten Hjulmand makes transfer stance clear amid £69m Manchester United link

Morten Hjulmand revealed he has no intentions to leave Sporting Clube de Portugal anytime soon amid rumours of interest from Manchester United ahead of the summer transfer window.

The midfielder has been tentatively linked with a move to Old Trafford after a fine start to life at the Portuguese giants. The 24-year-old joined the Lions from Lecce for just £18m last summer.

He has gone on to establish himself in Ruben Amorim's team, having started 22 times in the Liga Portugal. Hjulmand had also been a first choice for Amorim during their Europa League campaign.

Having been in Portugal for less than a year, the midfielder is said to have already caught the attention of Premier League clubs, including Tottenham.

Hjulmand is an international team-mate of Christian Eriksen, who has offered him advice and opinion in the early stages of his Denmark career. There is the prospect of the pair playing together for club and country if United are prepared to meet Sporting's €80million (£69m) release clause.

Under contract until 2028, the Dane is not thinking about a move away from Estadio Jose Alvalade. In a recent interview for Portuguese newspaper A Bola, he said: "You have no idea how much I enjoy living here with my fiancé. It's a fantastic country, a fantastic city.

"Playing here is one thing but living close to Lisbon, in a country with good weather, good food, good beaches, I really enjoy it."
