Nathan Ake sends Kyle Walker message over his Man City future

Nathan Ake says everyone would like Kyle Walker to remain at Man City amid continued interest from Bayern Munich in his signature.

The 33-year-old only has a year left on his current deal at the club, and this summer could be the last chance City have to obtain a sizeable fee before he is allowed to leave on a free transfer next summer.

If he were to remain at the club without signing a new deal, Walker could even sign a pre-contract agreement with overseas clubs from next January.

The Bundesliga giants have shown a definite interest in signing the experienced full-back this summer, but City want to keep him and have made him an offer to remain at the club.

Speaking to reporters in Seoul, Ake was asked about the uncertain future of his defensive teammate and whether they could afford to let him leave at this moment in time.

"You know he’s a fantastic character in the group and such an important player for us," he said. "Obviously, we would like him to stay. We don’t know what’s going to happen, but all we can hope for is that he stays and helps us again to win titles.

“We have to see - but I think it’s clear that all the players and everyone at the club wants him to stay.”

City have already lost experienced duo Ilkay Gundogan and Riyad Mahrez this summer, and Ake admits he is sad to see the duo leave the club given the success they have contributed to.
