Rasmus Hojlund shares important Manchester United trait with Erik ten Hag

Erik ten Hag has made Rasmus Hojlund his priority signing to fill Manchester United's void for a top-class centre-forward - and the striker would share an important trait with his new manager should he complete his move.

The Reds have earmarked the Denmark international having decided Tottenham Hotspur are unlikely to sell Harry Kane to them and that Napoli's Victor Osimhen is likely to prove too expensive due to United's strict £120million transfer budget amid Financial Fair Play concerns. That has led the search to Hojlund, with the club locked in negotiations with his club Atalanta as they aim to come to an agreement over a potential fee.

Football director John Murtough has been leading those negotiations after Ten Hag held video calls with Hojlund earlier this year. Although the striker only joined Serie A side Atalanta one year ago from Sturm Graz it appears he would be excited at the prospect of switching to United.

That is because the forward has previously revealed himself as a boyhood fan of United. Speaking earlier this season, Hojlund shared his support for the Reds.

"Now that you ask, I will not hide the fact that I am a huge Manchester United fan," he said. "So personally, it would be one of the biggest things for me, but of course that doesn’t mean that I would turn down other big clubs if the offers come at some point."
