Dave Kilcoyne has been ruled out for the rest of the season as Munster's injury woes continue.
In what is also a significant blow to Ireland head coach Andy Farrell with the Six Nations on the horizon, the 56-cap international underwent shoulder surgery today with the province saying he will be sidelined for six months.
Ahead of Saturday week’s Investec Champions Cup clash with Toulon, Jack O’Donoghue is set for a scan and surgical opinion on the knee injury picked up in the New Year’s Day defeat to Conancht at the Sportsground.
Second row Edwin Edogbo (Achilles) and hooker Diarmuid Barron (foot) are set for surgery as head coach Graham Rowntree faces selection issues over the coming weeks with Peter O'Mahony and Joey Carbery still sidelined.
In more positive news, Oli Jager and Eoghan Clarke are undergoing their return to play protocols after respective head injuries, while second row Fineen Wycherley is edging closer to a return after his shoulder injury.
Centre Alex Nankivell could feature against Toulon as he continues his rehab from an ankle injury.
