Mum loses three stone, eases pain and beats bugs with key lifestyle change

A mum who managed to shed almost three stone has revealed the tragic reason behind her weight loss success. Wendy Annand decided to turn her life around after piling on the pounds and feeling “uncomfortable” in her own skin.

The 51-year-old had lost weight through slimming groups before but put it back on over lockdown. The administrator decided to restart her weight loss journey last year and found success again through online classes.

But when the sessions were stopped, Wendy feared she would regain the weight she worked so hard to lose. That was until she signed up to Greater Manchester and Cheshire weight loss group Beeweighed, so far managing to lose nearly three stone.

Wendy says she has just one motivation behind her success – her mum who sadly died from cancer after being overweight for most of her life.

Wendy, who lives in Edinburgh, told the MEN: “It was affecting my health and I was worried because I lost my mum to breast cancer at 55 and I’m in my 50s. I have to take it seriously.

“I have had a few friends who don’t worry about their weight but I don’t want to go down that route.

Wendy weighed 12st 6lbs at the start of her weight loss journey and was a dress size 16. Through calorie counting and exercise, she now weighs 10st 3lbs and is a dress size 10. She hopes to soon reach her target weight of 9st 9lbs.
