'Multi-vehicle accident' saw M4 brought to standstill - live updates

A multi-vehicle accident brought traffic to a standstill on one of Wales' major roads, earlier today (Monday). The rush hour incident on the M4 near Newport caused major congestion and tailbacks.

The major road is closed near Newport on the M4 Eastbound at J24 (A449, Coldra) due to a multi-vehicle accident, causing long delays. Congestion stretches back to J25 (Caerleon).

Traffic on the westbound side is also slow, with delays reaching back to J23A (Magor Services). The entry slip road from the A449 underneath the motorway onto the Eastbound M4 is closed.
