Motherwell v Rangers: Calum Butcher wants win as Steelmen 'aren't out of the woods yet' in Premiership survival fight

Motherwell star Calum Butcher says his side aren't out of the woods yet in their Premiership survival fight and they will be determined to take something off of high-flying Rangers on Saturday.

The Steelmen go into the lunchtime crunch off the back of a four-game unbeaten run under new boss Stuart Kettlewell which has taken them from joint-bottom a month ago to ninth spot.

Motherwell are nine points clear of Butcher's old side Dundee United, who prop up the table behind Kilmarnock, Ross County and then the Steelmen.

But the 31-year-old knows they are far from safe yet and have to believe they can further their case by shocking Rangers and ending their eight-game winning streak in the league.

He said: "We want to finish as high as we can.

"We are not out of the woods yet. We want to kick on and get away from that as quickly as possible.

"We don't want to get too ahead of ourselves. We realise it has been a difficult season.

"We want to finish as strongly as we can and we are starting to do that now.

"When I first came in there was a conversation between the lads where we said that we shouldn't be in this position and, since that, everyone has stuck together and done what we've needed to do to pick up points.

"From now until the end of the season, we know there are a lot of big games and a lot of chances to pick up points to move up the table.

"We go into Saturday full of confidence. We want our home form to be good and having a game against Rangers, you need to respect them but also take the game on board and attack it as best we can.

"Rangers are a top side and these are the games you want to be involved in.

"You want to enjoy them as much as possible but you also want to try and win the game.

"We go into every game
