Motherwell v Aberdeen: We're on top form, says Stuart Kettlewell ahead of Premiership clash

Motherwell boss Stuart Kettlewell says Aberdeen will be shown every respect – but his side go into the Premiership clash on real form.

Motherwell’s last game was a famous 2-1 win over Rangers at Ibrox – their first league victory there in 27 years – while the Dons progressed to the Scottish Cup semi-finals, but then lost to Dundee in the Premiership.

Back-to-back wins, by also defeating Livingston 3-1, have left Motherwell eighth in the table, four points behind sixth-placed Dundee, while the Dons are just three points above Ross County in the play-off slot.

Kettlewell says Motherwell’s form has them buzzing, and they go into the Fir Park clash with confidence.

He said: “I think our last four games have been against the top three, and Livingston. We’ve approached all four of those games very much with the same mind-set.

“I have to go on record as saying we’ve got guys who are playing at a top level, who are performing really well.

“I’ll reference Liam Kelly, who has been criticised in stages over the course of this season, but I think in the last four games he’s made the most saves out of any goalkeeper in the league.

“Blair Spittal has played the most key passes in the last four games, and we’ve played the top three in amongst that, so for me that’s a pretty good achievement over that spell.

“With them and plenty others, we want to try and keep that form going.

“You’re much maligned when you’re on a bad run, but we look at our levels of performances recently as being good, and there have been one or two defeats in there even when we’ve felt we’ve played reasonably well.

“But, coming off the back of two victories, we’d make that argument that we would have wanted to play a game at the weekend.
