Motherwell ready to unleash Louis Moult against Hearts as boss says new signing set to play a part in clash

Motherwell boss Steven Hammell says new signing Louis Moult should make his debut in Sunday's Premiership clash with Hearts.

The Fir Park faithful are desperate to see the club hero make his first outing since completing a deadline day move from Burton Albion on loan.

Moult played in a 4-0 Reserve League win over Queen's Park last week, but has yet to get a first-team outing.

Last weekend's blanket postponement of fixtures due to the death of Queen Elizabeth II has forced fans to wait even longer for a first glimpse of the striker since his return, with the trip to Ross County called off.

But Hammell is confident Moult will feature at some stage of the weekend clash at home to the Jambos.

He said: "Louis is in a good place, as well as a few others.

"The squad is looking good. We never played last week so we are a bit fresher. We've tried to use the week to our advantage.

"We didn't want to be missing for so long but we've used the time to improve certain player's fitness levels and give others a little bit more rest.

"Everything has been individualised and tailored and everything is geared towards the Hearts game.

"Louis should be involved at some point at the weekend.

"He is keen, he is ready to go.

"He could have potentially played a part in the Dundee United game but everything just came too quickly for him.

Moult, whose first spell came between 2015-2018, wasn't ready to make his second bow in claret and amber for the 0-0 stalemate with Dundee United, in which Motherwell created a hatful of chances but failed to stick any of them away.
