Motherwell in negotiations with stars over new contracts for next season

Motherwell remain in contract talks, with 14 players out of contract as they look ahead to next season.

But 21 stars are under contract for next season, including star striker Kevin van Veen.

The Fir Park club issued their retained and released list today, which sees loan players James Furlong, Stuart McKinstry, Jon Obika and Olly Crankshaw return to their parent clubs, while Barry Maguire, Connor Shields and Robbie Mahon have returned to Fir Park from spells elsewhere.

Motherwell are in negotiations with several players, but Jake Carrol, Logan Dunachie, Daniel Hunter, Kian Speirs, Jack Aitchison, Matty Connelly, Max Johnston, Ewan Wilson, Dan Casey, Dean Cornelius, Sean Goss, Mikael Mandron, David Devine and Corey O’Donnell's deals have all expired.

Josh Morris has been released.

Staying under contract for next season are: Liam Kelly, Aston Oxborough, Kyle Aitken, Josh Bogan, Stephen O’Donnell, Nathan McGinley, Paul McGinn, Ricki Lamie, Bevis Mugabi, Shane Blaney, Calum Butcher, Callum Slattery, Lennon Miller, Riku Danzaki, Blair Spittal, Ross Tierney, Kevin van Veen, Joe Efford, Mark Ferrie, Luca Ross and Dylan Wells.

Boss Stuart Kettlewell told the clubs’ website: “We are still speaking with a number of players at this very early stage of the summer and hope to get clarity on each situation very soon.

“For the players departing the club, I wish them all the very best in the future.”
