Motherwell hero Keith Lasley to be honoured by Fir Park club

Former Motherwell captain and coach Keith Lasley is the first to be inducted into the Fir Park club's 2022 Hall of Fame.

One of the highest appearance-holders in the Fir Park club's history, Lasley played nearly 500 games and was rewarded for his service with a testimonial against Bolton Wanderers in 2015.

In a playing career that spanned 18 years, Lasley captained the club to consecutive league runners-up positions and in Champions League qualifying matches.

Lasley, 42, is one of the club's fourth batch of five inductees for their Hall of Fame dinner that will take place at the town's Dalziel Park Hotel on Friday, November 18, hosted by Tam Cowan.

The midfielder spent two spells at Motherwell, from 1999 to 2004, and 2006-17, with a two-year spell at Plymouth Argyle in between.

He hung up his boots in 2017 to be assistant manager to Stephen Robinson, and took over as interim boss following the Irishman's resignation.

In April, Lasley announced he was leaving Motherwell to join Premiership rivals St Mirren as chief operating officer, which he then took up in June.

Alongside previous inductee Joe Wark, Lasley is the only man to have won the club's Player of the Year three times, in 2011, 2012 and 2014, and is second only to current boss Stevie Hammell for Motherwell European appearances.

Chief executive Alan Burrows said on social media: "Regardless of wherever he may be, Keith Lasley will always be a Motherwell FC legend.

"It will be brilliant to have him back in our company on November 18, if only for one night, to celebrate an incredible career in claret and amber, on and off the pitch."
