Missed chances spell the end of Creetown's South of Scotland League Cup hopes
Missed chances spelled the end of Creetown’s South of Scotland League Cup hopes on Saturday.
Jamie Adams’ side lost 2-0 to Lochar Thistle, the game moved to Newton Stewart to ensure it beat the weather.
After a goalless first half, Lochar took the lead from the penalty spot, Jordan Muirhead scoring after Marcus Zygadlo had been brought down.
And they sealed the win when Olly Cairnie pounced to score after Zygadlo had seen his shot saved.
Adams said: “In the first half the boys were fine, they created three or four great chances, missed an open goal and didn’t really give much away. I didn’t think we were too bad.
“Goals change games, we couldn’t score in the big moments and they could, which obviously changed the game, which was disappointing as we created enough in the first half.
“If you don’t take your chances, the game is still there – it was still there for Lochar and I think after they got their goal they got a lift and we didn’t react well.
“Fair play to Lochar, they’re through and we’re out and that’s football.”
Adams (right) added: “I think some of the performances recently haven’t been good enough. Football can change so quickly at all levels.
“I think a few of the boys are probably suffering a bit in confidence but that can soon change.
“We’ve had a really good record, especially in the league where we’ve only lost one game in 18 months, but in terms of results lately it’s not what we want. That happens in football.”
Adams will be hoping for a change of fortune this weekend then they have another cup game.
This time, they head to Sanquhar to take on Nithsdale Wanderers.
Adams said: “It’s another tough game for the boys and another cup competition.
“We’ll be doing everything we can
