Derek McInnes earns Jose Mourinho comparison as wild Celtic celebration spells Rangers 'delight'

It might not be quite as dramatic as when Jose Mourinho ran the length of the Old Trafford touchline in 2004.

But Derek McInnes' wild celebrations after Kilmarnock took the lead against champions Celtic was straight out of the Special One's playbook. No one will every forget how the Portuguese nearly ended up at the corner flag when his Porto team drew against Manchester United in the Champions League, and there were similar scenes at Rugby Park after Matty Kennedy struck late to sting Brendan Rodgers' men and halt them adding to their five-point advantage over rivals Rangers.

It's the second time Rugby Park has been bouncing against the Scottish Premiership holders, with Rodgers less than impressed with his side's second half slump. It was scenes of joy on the opposite bench when McInnes ran the distance of his touchline in wild celebrations, as noted by Sky Sports New presenter Tom White when the Killie goal went in.

He said on the live Sky broadcast: “Incredible scenes there. It’s Matty Kennedy who’s put Kilmarnock ahead for Derek McInnes’ side and it’ll be a vital three points.

"Of course, it will be awful for Celtic and there’ll be delight for Rangers right now to keep the gap at five points as opposed to the eight it looked like it was going to be when Celtic took the lead. Derek McInnes, a former Rangers player, is celebrating Jose Mourinho style in the rain.”
