Minecraft fans watch over 1.4 billion years' worth of gameplay on YouTube

Minecraft fans have watched a staggering 1.4 billion years’ worth of gameplay on YouTube across the last two years, per a new study.

The study from Student Beans has ranked Minecraft as the third most-popular gaming franchise in the world, largely due to their fanbase on YouTube.

And, as a result, they have looked into exactly how many hours of gameplay Minecraft fans have watched on YouTube since 2020.

Arguably facilitated by the pandemic, the franchise hit 1 trillion views of Minecraft-related content on YouTube, of which half was over the period of just 2 years, meaning 684,931,507 Minecraft-related videos were viewed each day.

According to YouTube, the best-performing genre of video on the website is animation videos, which were viewed 4,997,757,293 times in 2021.

Minecraft has a huge amount of search volume on YouTube, with a volume of 68 million for the game.

That is hugely outstripped by Roblox, though, which has a search volume of 124 million.

However, Minecraft has also generated a staggering $3.6 billion in terms of revenue and it also has a hue number of mentions on Twitter, with 18.3 million.

However, Minecraft remains in the top three most popular games ever but there are two above it.

Here’s the full list of the most popular game franchises of all time.

Minecraft’s popularity, clearly, endures, and is likely to remain so for the coming years.

It is totally understandable that the likes of Call of Duty, FIFA, and Halo are all near the top of the list, but Fortnite, Pokemon, and Minecraft are genuine behemoths when it comes to the gaming community.
