Mikey Johnston revival gets Celtic punters singing from same hymn sheet and even West Brom boss agrees

West Brom boss Carlos Corberan admits it's a different ball game playing for the Baggies compared to Celtic - and that's why Mikey Johnston is thriving down south.

Winger Johnston has scored twice in three starts since his January loan move and his most recent goal has his new fans glowing that they've landed a steal. He's still under contract at Parkhead but a career revival looks unlikely with Johnston now 24, and never showing it consistently in Glasgow.

There's no bad blood from Celtic punters who wish him all the best but seem to feel his time has come and gone, many believing he simply doesn't have the mentality to succeed in the Parkhead pressure cooker. A quick skim through Celtic circles on X shows fans harking back to his glaring miss against Rangers, all the way back in the 2019 League Cup final which the 10-man Hoops won 1-0, as evidence of that.

Corberan hinted at the same when asked where this immediate resurgence from Johnston has come from. He admits it's just 'different' going from the Celtic cauldron to the English Championship where the heat is relatively off. And he reckons Johnston's impressive loan spell with Vitoria Guimares last season shows he is a good player...just maybe not a good Celtic player.

He said: "It's not the same for Mikey to play at Celtic and West Bromwich Albion. When you identify Celtic, when they are playing at home in a league game, they are very dominant and attack.

"When you put Celtic in a European competition, there's another scenario. What is important is that Johnston had a loan in Portugal previously. He was in a team which was different to Celtic, so it's new to him to be in a different environment to Celtic, it's not the first time he's had a different style. That
