Mick Schumacher says he embraces pressure as he seeks first Haas points

Haas driver Mick Schumacher says he is looking to use the pressure on him to deliver results after another costly crash at the Monaco Grand Prix last time out.

Schumacher is in his second year in Formula 1 this season and has a far more competitive car around him compared to his rookie year in 2021.

He has a more experienced team-mate this time, too, in Kevin Magnussen and the Dane is showing the way with him scoring plenty of points so far and finishing as high as 5th place so far this season.

Those factors, combined with Schumacher being yet to score a point and also having two big, expensive shunts this season have naturally started to increase the pressure on Mick, who knows that he needs to deliver results in order to stay in F1.

He’ll know that more than anyone, though, and is used to dealing with pressure more than most drivers that have come through the ranks, given his name, but in fairness in the past he has shown he is a top driver with championship wins at F3 and F2.

Indeed, he’s looking to use that experience to spur him on now, as he bids to start getting points on the board with F1 in Azerbaijan this weekend:

“It’s a matter of being in the right spot at the right time,” he said as quoted by The Race.

“I’ve said this since quite a while, I’ve had these circumstances before, such as in Formula 3 on Formula 2, where I started off in a very difficult position, and then got a lot of pressure.

“And that kind of just made me go quicker. So…feed the pressure!”

There’s no pressure like F1 pressure, so let’s see what Mick can do as we head into Baku this weekend.
