Bernie Ecclestone believes Mick Schumacher would be a better fit at Mercedes, Red Bull
Former Formula 1 CEO Bernie Ecclestone feels that Haas team principal Guenther Steiner was wrong to criticise his driver Mick Schumacher publicly.
Since two expensive crashes at the Saudi Arabian and Monaco Grands Prix, Steiner has been very opinionated publicly about what he thinks of the young Haas driver.
Numerous people, including the 91-year-old Ecclestone, have slammed Steiner's negative comments about the 23-year-old Schumacher to media at times.
Haas is the only team not to introduce a single upgrade this season but is expected to do so for the Hungarian GP at the end of July.
Unfair criticism
Ecclestone said it is unfair for Steiner to criticise Schumacher when they have no idea of what the Haas car can do without the team having used their upgrade option yet.
"We don't know how good or bad the car is," Ecclestone told formula1news.co.uk. "It makes a big difference whether the car suits his driving style or not."

With the huge financial cost to the Haas team due to Schumacher's two crashes, Ecclestone feels it's wrong to publicly criticise the driver about this.
"He doesn't need people telling him that all the time," the former F1 supremo said. "He needs someone to help him and not criticise him too much."
Ecclestone believes that had the young driver's legendary father, Michael Schumacher, been in the paddock with his son, the situation with Steiner would be very different.
"If Michael [were] here, he would tell Gunther where to go," Ecclestone said. "That would help a lot."
