Michel Ange Balikwisha rated on the level of modern Celtic great as academy graduate turns heads with a Treble

Wanted Michel-Ange Balikwisha has been compared to modern Celtic hero Scott Sinclair as the Premiership champions have been urged to land the Belgian winger.

The 23-year-old has been watched by Brendan Rodgers' side as he gets set to exit Antwerp. The likes of Rennes and Roma are also reportedly interested in the wide man who can operate in a number of roles across the front line. And former Partick Thistle and Dundee United defender Frederic Frans is utterly convinced Celtic splashing out the cash on Balikwisha would be a sage investment.

And he sees a player akin to Sinclair – who netted an eye-popping 52 goals under Rodgers during their almost three years together in Glasgow's east end. Speaking to the Herald, Frans said: “He’s the type of player who, on his day, can be amazing. But Celtic are buying someone with a lot of potential rather than the finished product. To be honest though, he’s a good player, even though there was a bit of flexing of the financial muscle going on from the Antwerp owner.

“He has quite a long, skinny body when you look at him, but is really strong and fast. He has a lot of the qualities you need, with his speed, the dribbling, the technique, and physically he’s pretty decent as well. He’s quick, he’s technical, he’s a good player. He’s more of a winger. His scoring record is pretty good when you consider that, it’s close to one in four games.
