Michael Bublé takes on surprising role in Asda’s Christmas ad directed by Taika Waititi

Michael Bublé is known as the soundtrack to Christmas for many and now he’s brought his signature festive cheer to Asda’s 2023 Christmas ad. The singer made his debut as Asda’s inaugural Chief Quality in the 90-second TV ad, which premiered on Saturday night during The Voice ad break.

Shot by Oscar-winning filmmaker Tika Waititi, the ad sees Bublé inspecting the quality of the supermarket’s Christmas range to ensure the country has only the best festive treats, from chocolate and orange panettones to brown butter and spiced dark rum mince pies. The advert opens with the singer resting his feet up on a desk behind a gold-plated Chief Quality Officer sign.

The avert isn’t short on funny moments, with Bublé - a chartopping international star - requesting a “clean up on aisle five”, something which he admits he’s ‘always wanted to do’. One Asda colleague orders: “Products to approve - so bring Mr Bublé your best.”

When he strides into a room full of Asda colleagues eagerly awaiting his arrival, he dismisses the fishmonger who has tried to get mackerel on the menu for Christmas dinner for another year running. He’s then seen entering the festive warehouse (first revealed in the teaser trailer) to approve Asda’s finest Christmas offerings, WalesOnline reports.
