Michael Appleton back in Hibs next manager mix as hunt for new boss steps up

Former Hibs managerial candidate Michael Appleton is back in contention to become the club's next head coach.

Owner Ron Gordon, son Ian and chief executive Ben Kensell have conducted an extensive search for their next boss.

A delegation headed to London last week and the Daily Mail report Appleton is among the names in the frame to succeed Shaun Maloney.

He is a free agent after leaving Lincoln City last week.

Record Sport revealed Paul Clement had been interviewed for the role with former PSV and Derby boss Philip Cocu another who understood to be under consideration.
