Micah Richards reveals Celtic realisation over Ange as Tottenham boss has last laugh after 'frosty reception'

Micah Richards reckons the Ange Postecoglou style at Celtic was staring him in the face, but he couldn't see it even when Chris Sutton waxed lyrical about the manager.

Tottenham Hotspur and the wider footballing world were all talking about the charismatic Aussie after the 57-year-old marked his Spurs home debut with a win in what was considered in some quarters to be an outmanoeuvring of Manchester United and Erik Ten Hag. And while Record Sport columnist Chris Sutton first put the ex-Celtic boss' name in to the ether, Richards admits it was met with a 'frosty reception' but those within the Premier League conversation bubble.

Yet the former Manchester City defender reckons he has had his eyes opened to the unwavering attacking football plan after watching the Aussie in action at the weekend. Sutton himself revealed his doubts in the infancy stages of Postecoglou's Hoops spell, but reckons it won't be long before the rewards are undeniable for the Spurs fans.

Richards told 5 Live Sport: "Chris I am going to give you a pat on the back because you told us about Ange about two-and-a-half years ago and you said 'why is someone in the Premier League not looking at him' and you got a frosty reception...not from me, of course.

"I think he is brilliant, everything that you said has come to light. This is what the Tottenham fans wanted, really attacking football. Long may it continue."

Sutton said: "I've said many times when he came in to Celtic and the brand of football he wanted to play I was thinking 'really?' Can he actually do this? It's all about process and working hard on the training ground. What is really interesting is some of the personnel within the team who he has picked.
