Micah Richards gets Rod Stewart recognition at last as message from Celtic daft rocker revealed
Micah Richards joked he was rocker Rod Stewart's "favourite" after a message from the Celtic daft star's team.
The CBS Golazo pundit and ex England and Manchester City man joked he got "disrespected" as part of the incredible pitch side interview between the Celtic-daft rocker and those in the live studio including Kate Scott, Thierry Henry, Jamie Carragher and the Richards before Brendan Rodgers' men hosted Bayern Munich in the first leg of their Champions League knockout tie. Legendary keeper Peter Schmeichel - dad of Hoops No1 Kasper - also joined the Maggie May singer for an unforgettable pre-match warm-up.
In an interview that had it all, Rod went on to reveal that "he'd had a couple" before the game. But it was not knowing who Richards was - calling him 'Big Knees' instead of Big Meeks and then "Michael Thing" that had his fellow punditry experts laughing away.
Just shy of one week on the build-up to last night's heartbreaking end for Celtic in Europe's premier competition, the team addressed the antics from the week before with Richards telling CBS Golazo: "Michael Thing, Big Knees. I can't believe it. I got disrespected but we got a text didn't we Carra? Saying he knows who we are.
Host Kate Scott jumped in saying: "'What do you mean we?" Before Micah responded: "Well Carra got a text not me.."
Carragher explained: "I sent him a message. I know how he was feeling the next morning. It was a bit of a come down for Big Meeks. Rod's people shall we say got in touch and said they are well aware of the show, watch the show and know who exactly this fella is."
Micah chipped in: "Apparently I am his favourite!"
