Met Office forecast in full as temperatures heat up in Greater Manchester

Temperatures are warming up in Greater Manchester this week and next - with the mercury expected to climb to 24C.

Our region will finally see some warmer weather over the coming days after a dreary start to June. Met Office forecasters predict that across the UK, it will 'turn increasingly warm' as we move into next week.

Today (June 20), temperatures will reach 22C in our region throughout the afternoon. After a largely cloudy start to the morning, forecasters predict sunny intervals for this afternoon.

Over the weekend in Greater Manchester, temperatures will average at a maximum of around 21C. Conditions are expected to be largely dry over Friday, Saturday and Sunday with sunny spells also forecast across the three days.

Into next week, the mercury is set to rise even further with highs of 23C forecast for Monday and 24C forecast for Tuesday. Met Office forecasters predict 'mostly fine and dry' conditions with it feeling warm in the sun.

On the overall outlook for the UK from Monday, the Met Office said: "Predominantly fine and settled through the period and for much of the country turning much warmer than we have seen in recent weeks. At first some thicker cloud could bring some outbreaks of mostly light rain, this mainly affecting northwestern areas.

"However for most it will be dry throughout, and likely to turn increasingly warm as we move into next week. There is a chance that this could persist for much of the rest of the period, turning increasingly hot, however by the latter part of next week we see a large range of outcomes, some of which allow for a return of temperatures closer to average.
