Mesut Ozil could make shock move to Hull City with Fenerbahce exit imminent

Mesut Ozil, in his prime, was one of the best playmakers the Premier League has ever seen.

The German international’s vision was frankly unrivalled. He was able to pick out passes that no one else could see.

However, he’s had quite the fall from grace since his pomp, now plying his trade in Turkey for Fenerbache.

Ozil only joined the Turkish side last year, but reports state that club has begun the process of terminating his contract.

The Istanbul club prefers that he not continue and negotiations are expected to begin to annul his contract.

That’s not even the most interesting part of this story, as the press in Turkey is reporting that Ozil is a target for Hull City, who are 20th in the Championship as things stand.

The club’s Turkish owner, Acun Ilıcalı, is a friend of Ozil’s which reports state could help bring the 33-year-old back to England, after only leaving Arsenal last year.

If the deal doesn’t come off, it’s also thought that Ozil is a target for fellow former Real Madrid star David Beckham’s Inter Miami, which could be another story to keep your eye on.

Because of how far he’s fallen, it’s often easy to forget just how brilliant Ozil was during his prime, for both Real Madrid and Arsenal.

Ozil has played 590 games during his professional career, notching up just shy of 100 assists, but it was Mesut’s vision and passes, which the stats may not show, that made him stand out.
