Mens' Super League: Ballincollig suffer first loss

Garvey's Tralee Warriors inflicted a first InsureMyVan.ie Super League defeat of the season on Tradehouse Central Ballincollig on Saturday, 94-90, at Tralee Sports Complex, ending their incredible 11-game league winning run.

Tradehouse Central Ballincollig had a swift opportunity to avenge that defeat on Sunday and they did so, winning 79-73 at Ballincollig Community School.

Saturday’s game saw Nikola Roso (27), Aaron Calixte (23) and Darragh O’Hanlon (16) head scoring for the County Kerry club, who also eliminated Kieran O’Sullivan’s side from the InsureMyHouse.ie National Cup at the same venue earlier this season.

Saturday’s game was close throughout and level at 45 points apiece at half-time, with Garvey’s Tralee Warriors edging ahead 73-67 by the end of the third and closed out the win. Andre Nation top scored for Tradehouse Central Ballincollig with 35 points, followed by Milorad Sedlarevic (18) and Ciaran O’Sullivan (12).

Sunday’s game had a similar pattern, this time Tradehouse Central Ballincollig led 36-27 at half-time, but it was level at 57 apiece at end of the third, before the home advantage proved crucial once more, Tradehouse Central Ballincollig winning 79-73. Andre Nation (22), Milorad Sedlarevic (11), Pau Cami Galera (9) topped the scoring charts for Tradehouse Central Ballincollig, while it was Nikola Roso (18), Aaron Calixte (18) and Daniel Jokubaitis (13) for Garvey’s Tralee Warriors.

North Conference leaders DBS Éanna had to come from behind to edge local rivals UCD Marian 85-82 at UCD Sports Centre. UCD Marian held a 46-37 half-time lead over DBS Éanna, but Darren McGovern’s side brought it within five points by the end of the third, 66-61, before winning out.
