'Meant to be' - Manchester United loanee Jadon Sancho speaks out after Borussia Dortmund debut

Manchester United loanee Jadon Sancho has spoken out after returning to action with Borussia Dortmund.

The winger completed his move to Germany earlier this week in an attempt to revive his career. Sancho, 23, previously spent four years at Dortmund, where his 114 goal contributions in 137 games convinced United to splash out £73m on the England international.

Having struggled to reach those same heights in his first two seasons at Old Trafford, his fortunes took a turn for the worse in September. Sancho became embroiled in a public spat with manager Erik ten Hag after being left out of the matchday squad for United’s clash with Arsenal, leading him to become frozen out of the first team.

A loan move to Dortmund offered Sancho a chance to get his career back on track and he required little time to seize the opportunity, despite last playing a competitive match in August. Coming on against Darmstadt 98 in the 55th minute, Sancho provided an assist for Marco Reus after just 22 minutes on the pitch, helping his side to a 3-0 win.

The winger has been openly delighted about sealing his move to Dortmund and has reacted to making his second debut for the club. "Ever since I've come back I have felt like at home and felt great to be on the pitch again," Sancho said.

"It was meant to be, coming back and seeing Marco [Reus]. I am just happy to set up his goal.
