Mauricio Pochettino's Manchester United job stance clear after Chelsea exit

Former Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has already expressed his desire to remain in the Premier League amid reports he is keen on taking the Manchester United job in the future.

The Blues announced on Tuesday evening they had parted ways with Pochettino by mutual consent after conducting their end-of-season review. In his only season in charge of the club, the 52-year-old had struggled to gel a host of new players together and his club slumped into mid-table.

However, they did reach the Carabao Cup final and FA Cup semi-final and these were used as catalysts for their Premier League campaign. In their last ten matches in the division, they won seven and only lost once albeit that defeat was a heavy 5-0 demolition at Arsenal.

Chelsea would finish the campaign above United in sixth and will be playing in the Europa League next season if the Reds lose the FA Cup final on Saturday. As that game draws closer, speculation is building regarding Pochettino's next role.

According to The Times, Pochettino would be interested in speaking to United if Erik ten Hag is sacked this summer. MEN Sport understands Sir Jim Ratcliffe has not decided upon the Dutchman's future yet and all focus is on the FA Cup final this weekend.

It is unsurprising to see Pochettino linked with the United job after freely admitting as recently as two weeks ago that he wished to remain in England for as long as possible. Taking to Instagram, he wrote: "A proud personal moment last night - 400 games in English football.

"One of the best decisions of my life and I hope to add to this number for a long time to come." Pochettino
