Matt O'Riley Celtic 'maturity' key to Denmark call as U21 boss lifts the lid on looming final decision

Denmark under-21 boss Jesper Sørensen reckons Celtic star Matt O'Riley still has a big decision to make on whether he will represent the country.

The former MK Dons man joined Ange Postecoglou's side in January and slotted straight into his three-man engine room that led the surge to the top of the table.

Last month it was revealed that Danish assistant and former Celtic man Morten Weighorst had paid a visit to match O'Riley in action.

He liked what he saw and now he's been rewarded with a call-up for the Under-21s to begin with with a Euros qualifier against Belgium to come on March 29.

Sørensen admits he has been impressed with what the midfielder, who qualifies through his mum, and his Premiership form so far.

However, he reckons there is still a decision to be made by O'Riley before he takes to the pitch for Denmark for the first time.

He told Tipsbladet : “Matthew is a technically really good player.

“He is not the fastest, but he compensates for that by perceiving the game very quickly. He is left-footed with a really good kick, and already in his second match for Celtic he took a free kick. He appears very mature on and off the field.
