Mathias Kvistgaarden to Celtic could finally be ON as smirking Brondby can't deny transfer reality

Long-term Celtic target Mathias Kvistgaarden could finally make his move to Parkhead as Brondby boss Jesper Sorensen teased a summer switch.

The Danish striker has been subject to interest from the Scottish Premiership leaders throughout the last two transfer windows with an offer worth more than £4m reportedly rejected in last summer with Brendan Rodgers' looking to bolster he Celtic Park frontline. With clubs lining up to do a deal for the 22-year-old in the January window, Brondby shut down any exit talks as they eyed the Danish Superliga title.

But the forward has seen his season brought to an abrupt end through after a knee injury that has hampered his season flared up during the 2-1 win over FC Copenhagen. Boss Sorensen has admitted he doesn't expect Kvistgaarden to play another game this term - with attention quickly turning to the possibility of a summer move away from the club.

Speaking to Tipsbladet , Sorensen lifted the lid on talks with the frontman after his latest injury hammerblow. He said: "I have told him that he will come back even stronger. We all know that - that's how he is. It is a minor bump on a long and good road for him."

Quizzed if he would ever play another game in a Brondby shirt, Sorensen delivered a response with "a smile on his face", according to the Danish outlet. He responded: "That's a good question.

"I'd rather not speculate on it. I hope not, but we'll have to see. I don't really have any idea what time will bring."
