Matheus Cunha injury update given by Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim

Ruben Amorim has revealed Matheus Cunha's injury is "nothing serious" after he was ruled out of the Premier League fixture against Everton tonight. Cunha was expected to start at the false nine after Benjamin Sesko picked up a knock against Tottenham before the international break. However, Cunha has also picked up an injury and has not made the matchday squad.

Amorim was asked to clarify the situation ahead of the clash with the Toffees, telling MUTV: "It was a knock in training so I don’t know how long he’s going to stay out, I think it’s nothing serious, but we cannot risk players. We have to show everybody, when you are not 100 per cent, we have a different player to cope with the demands of the game."

Joshua Zirkzee comes into the starting XI in place of Cunha. Zirkzee has not started a league game since April and was last on the scoresheet in the league against tonight's opponents back in December. Amorim added on the decision to start Zirkzee: "I just want to see Josh playing well, with the quality he has.

"We have a problem with Ben [Sesko] and we have a problem with Cunha. He's working in that position. If you look at our team, I think Josh has, more or less, the same characteristics as Cunha in that position. We want to maintain what we worked with during the week and he is ready."

United could move up to fourth with a win against Everton tonight. They head into the clash in tenth position in the table but could be just one point and one place behind Manchester City come the close of play.

United beat Everton in the corresponding fixture last season to claim their first win under Ruben Amorim. Marcus Rashford and Zirkzee both scored twice to seal comfortable 4-0 win.
