Cameron Carter Vickers 'missing' from Celtic airport pictures as fears escalate over defender ahead of Dortmund clash

Cameron Carter-Vickers looks to be out of Celtic's Champions League clash against Borussia Dortmund after the star centre back appeared to be missing from the travelling party that boarded the flight to Germany.

The USA international has missed the last two matches with a toe injury but Brendan Rodgers had hoped to have him back for Tuesday night's mouthwatering fixture at the Westfalenstadion on matchday two of the Champions League. However, the 26-year-old looks to have failed to recover in time, handing Irishman Rodgers a big blow in their bid to reach the knockout rounds.

Summer signing Auston Trusty impressed in Saturday''s 6-0 rout of St Johnstone and is likely to retain his place alongside Liam Scales at the heart of the Hoops back line. The only other contenders to replace the injured Carter-Vickers are Stephen Welsh and Polish defender Maik Nawrocki, with both players struggling to pick up game time under Rodgers.

Celtic will be looking to build on the 5-1 hammering of Slovan Bratislava in their Champions League opener when they face last year's runners up Dortmund. Nuri Sahin's men also got off to a winning start on matchday one when they claimed a 3-0 away victory against Club Brugge and also come into the game off the back of a 4-2 home win against Bochum in the Bundesliga.
