Mason Mount fires brilliant message after making Manchester United return vs Liverpool

Manchester United midfielder Mason Mount insists he can't wait to play for the club again after making his return against Liverpool on Sunday afternoon.

Mount has not featured for United since they beat Luton Town 1-0 in the Premier League in mid-November. Since then, the 25-year-old has been working his way back to full fitness after suffering a calf problem.

Initially, it was hoped that Mount would be back in January but setbacks meant he missed the entirety of that month as well as February. Fortunately, the former Chelsea man made it back to full fitness this week and was able to make it to the bench.

Erik ten Hag chose to deploy Mount for the final 15 minutes of extra-time as Marcus Rashford and Amad won the game for United as the Manchester club progressed against arch-rivals Liverpool in the FA Cup quarter-finals. After the game, Mount took to social media to sum up what it meant for him to be back after such a torrid spell on the sidelines with injury.

He wrote on Instagram: "This is what it means to be a part of this team! Can’t wait for the next one!"

Before the match, Ten Hag was asked about Mount's unlucky time with injuries in his debut season and admitted it had been a disappointing time for the player. "He didn’t have a chance to prove this point, but he will be a very good player for Manchester United," the Dutchman said.

"It’s really unfortunate, it’s really disappointing for him but also for us when you have such a class player in your middle, and you can’t play him." Mount's next chance to impress will come after the international break when United travel to struggling Brentford in the Premier League.
