How Manchester United players reacted in dressing room after Liverpool FA Cup win

Captain Bruno Fernandes has said everyone inside the Manchester United dressing room was 'dead' following Sunday's dramatic 4-3 win over Liverpool in the FA Cup.

United progressed to the semi-finals of the competition for the second season running after a last-gasp winner from Amad in extra-time. After the contest had finished 2-2 at the end of 90 minutes, Liverpool led 3-2 at the halfway stage of extra-time, following Harvey Elliott's deflected drive.

However, United clawed themselves back into the game for a second time through Marcus Rashford. Amad then completed a dramatic comeback, sparking pandemonium inside Old Trafford, scoring the winner in the 121st minute.

United manager Erik ten Hag mixed his team up in extra-time, requiring Fernandes to play at centre-back and Antony at left-back. It was a huge effort from every member of the squad, meaning they were almost too tired to celebrate.

"It was great," Fernandes told MUTV. "Not as much to play but to watch, probably.

"It was amazing, the atmosphere was on fire. I think the belief of the team and the desire to win this game was great.

"The effort from everyone... everyone in the dressing room was dead - we couldn't do anything more! We couldn't even shout to celebrate. It was so hard to get that shout of happiness out."

United's reward for beating Liverpool is a semi-final showdown against Coventry City at Wembley next month. The Sky Blues progressed to their first FA Cup semi-final since 1987 with a dramatic win of their own on Saturday, beating Wolves 3-2 at Molineux.
