Mason Mount breaks silence with 'devastating' Manchester United injury statement

Mason Mount says he feels 'devastated' to be starting another Manchester United injury lay-off, but 'will never give up or lose faith' in his quest to overcome the problems.

Signed for £60m from Chelsea in summer 2023, Mount's first season at Old Trafford was plagued with troubles. He made only 20 Man United appearances totalling 756 minutes as thigh and calf injuries stood in the way.

He only recovered from more recent hamstring and head problems around the time Ruben Amorim arrived to the club, however just 12 minutes into last Sunday's Manchester derby he cut a distraught figure as he exited the field.

"Words can’t portray how devastated I’m feeling right now, you could probably see the look on my face when it happened. I knew what it meant," he wrote to his Instagram followers on the same day his manager announced the 25-year-old now faces an absence of 'several weeks'.

In his heartfelt message, he added: "United fans, you may not know me too well yet, but one thing I can guarantee, I will never give up or lose faith.

"I've said this before, but I will continue to give everything, get through this tough period and won’t stop until that’s achieved."

Amorim did not put an exact date on the England international's return, but did use the injury to hit out at the busy schedule his team faces.

"The worst part is that we don't have time to train like we should do when you are recovering from a lot of injuries. We are always travelling, we have games, trainings where we don't have all the team together and it's really hard to recreate the game before they come to the game.

"So they have to have more time to train. It's really hard, we try to manage that with rotation but even with rotation it's really hard to have all the
