Mark Robins provides positive Coventry City injury update after Blackpool clash

Coventry City were dealt a big blow earlier in the week when news emerged that Liam Kelly and Josh Eccles are likely to miss the next two months, as per a report from Coventry Live.

Kelly, who has re-torn his hamstring, has been struggling to get back to full fitness this season, whilst Eccles has torn a tendon in his calf.

However, the latest Coventry Live injury update has provided the positive news that Fankaty Dabo is closing in on a return to first-team training.

“The positive one is that Fanky is joining in training on Thursday,” said the Coventry boss.

Matty Godden is also nearing a return, with Robins providing an upbeat update on the experienced forward’s current situation: “He’s got an appointment with the surgeon a week today (Tues, February 15) and once he gets the all-clear then he will be able to join in this time next week.”

The verdict

It has been a testing Tim for Robins and his Coventry side with the number of injuries he has had to contend with, and whilst they are not easing, the return of Dabo and Godden will be a massive boost.

The Sky Blues are still in the hunt for a play-off spot this season, with the aforementioned duo both vital players when fully fit.

Dabo provides defensive resilience, versatility and also provides an attacking threat when deployed as a right wing-back, and he has proved to be a top performer in recent seasons.

Godden has been equally influential over the past few seasons, with the forward’s knack for scoring goals, link up play and movement, seeing him emerge as a popular figure amongst the Coventry support.
