Cardiff City host Peterborough United this evening and have the opportunity to increase the gap between themselves and the bottom three to 12 points.

The Bluebirds have given themselves some breathing space in recent weeks through victories over Nottingham Forest and rock bottom side Barnsley.

Steve Morison’s men lost key attacking contributors in the form of Ryan Giles and Kieffer Moore last month and therefore survival would represent a successful short term job from Morison in the final third of the campaign.

The Posh have won just once in their last 14 in the Championship and could be caught by Derby County in the coming weeks if they are not able to turn their fortunes around.

Darren Ferguson’s men brought in Callum Morton, Bali Mumba and Jeando Fuchs among others in hoping to strengthen their survival bid last month, although if Cardiff take maximum points this evening, Reading will appear to be the only side the Posh can catch to avoid relegation.
