Mark Robins makes coy Coventry City transfer comments over Chelsea loanee

The 19-year old is on loan for the season from Chelsea and has impressed for the Sky Blues.

The Dutchman has featured 27 times for Robins’ side in the Championship, starting 24 of those appearances.

But Robins is uncertain whether the club will be able to retain his services for next season, with the decision out of their hands.

“That’s not something I am prepared to talk publicly about because he’s not my player,” said Robins, via Coventry Live.

“He’s a top young man.”

Maatsen has even scored three goals from midfield as he has played a key role in Coventry’s season.

Robins’ side are ninth in the table and chasing a play-off place.

Victory over Preston could see Coventry go level with sixth place Sheffield United, if results elsewhere go in their favour.

The game takes place on Saturday at 3pm at the Coventry Building Society Arena.

Maatsen has been an important and impressive player for Coventry this season.
